How IMStudio handles your data

IMStudio runs on your device. Your images and projects are never uploaded unless you explicitly turn on Cloud Backup. That single sentence governs everything below.

The short version

You can use the entire editor without an account. Everything you make is stored in your browser, on your machine. If you sign in, we store the basics of who you are. If you turn on Cloud Backup, we store the project files you back up. That's the whole list.

What stays on your device

Your projects, images, edit history, shader library, and preferences are stored locally in your browser (using IndexedDB and localStorage). This data never reaches our servers and we cannot see it. The AI background-removal feature also runs entirely in your browser — your images are not sent anywhere to be processed.

What we store when you sign in

Signing in uses your Google account. From it we receive and store your name, email address, and profile photo. We create an account record that also holds your subscription status. We never see or store a password — there isn't one.

What we store if you use Cloud Backup

Cloud Backup is off until you turn it on. When you back up a project, the project file and a small thumbnail are stored on our infrastructure, scoped to your account and encrypted in transit and at rest. You can delete any backup at any time, and deleting your account deletes all of them.

Payments

Purchases are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle processes your payment details under its own privacy policy; your card number never touches imstudio.app. We receive only your subscription status.

Services we rely on

Google Sign-In — authentication only, with the minimal profile scopes.
Supabase — hosts our account database, authentication, and Cloud Backup storage.
Paddle — merchant of record for payments, billing, and receipts.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data. We don't run advertising trackers. We don't train AI models on your images — we never receive them in the first place.

Your choices and rights

You can use IMStudio without ever creating an account. If you have one, you can delete it yourself from the account menu — deletion is immediate and removes your account record and all cloud backups. Depending on where you live (including under Canada's PIPEDA and the EU's GDPR), you may also have rights to access, correct, or export the personal data we hold; email support@imstudio.app and we'll help.

Retention

Account data is kept while your account exists and deleted when you delete it. Backups are kept until you delete them or your account. If a subscription ends, your existing backups remain downloadable for at least 90 days, as described in our terms.

Children

IMStudio is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. For material changes, we'll say so in the app before they take effect.
